AECOM won the competition for the master plan design contract for the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympic and the project is currently under the construction phase.Design of AECOM includes three phases: the Rio Olympic Park area during the 2016 Games, a transition plan and the final position showcasing the site in legacy mode after 2016. The Objective of our studio project is to propose the new  master plan for the legacy mode for the portion to the Site in Barra da Tijuca. Designing new spaces and places while giving respect to the old and demolished is crucial for the livability and success of a project.

Stage II: Hotel Design

The curve of the Olympic-Way is one of the key feature of the Rio Olympic 2016. Starting from this curve, master plan was developed. The curve is further accentuated by intertwining it with the use of curved Pedestrian way and water body. The initial form for the hotel design was derived from this intertwining curve as it is one of the most signifecant feature of the Olympic site design and it represents the RIO olympic 2016 and the Legacy.
